If the engine cuts out then it is likely to be more of an electrical fault / fuelling fault. This is not limited to French cars, all modern cars use very similar computer systems to manage the car's operations. Found gearbox fault on dash. Checked battery voltage 12.51 volts. Carried out RAC scan faults logged in all control units. Carried out reset on gearbox now starting. Advised member to drive vehicle straight to garage for further investigation. Suspect gearbox control unit fault. A temporary repair / assessment has been made to consider onward

Since the spark plugs aren't the culprit and you've found a lot of oil in the #4 coil/plug area, it would seem the coil may be at fault. You could try and clean the coil very well with some carb cleaner. This would get most all of the oil out of the coil and it may start working correctly again.

I've got a 51 plate 307 with the same problem and anti air pollution and then the engine management light comes on and it's very sluggish I found that if I unplug the wires out of the air filter it solves the problem but will this cause any other problems in the future I'm not sure. Hi all, I have this same problem Anti Pollution System Fault I have a C4 Grand Picasso 1.6THP EGS Exclusive, registered 21st May 09. On the 18th June I went to the Trafford Centre. All OK. On way back just joined m/way got to 65mph then it suddenly dropped to 50 mph with the warning message anti pollution system fault and engine icon on.
